Tamron Hall’s Breezy Floral Dress Is Perfect for the End of Summer, but Her Advice Is Even Better

In the lead-up to the release of her new book, daytime talk show host Tamron Hall has been opening up on social media about the journey that lead her to where she is today.

In a recent Instagram video posted to her account, Tamron shared a personal anecdote about her early days as a young news anchor. (I have to admit, her gorgeous smocked floral dress first caught my attention—but it was her message that kept me staying until the end.)

Tamron set the scene: She was a young reporter working in the heat wave in Texas, and she took her jacket off. Her news director at the time then called from the newsroom to tell Tamron to put the jacket back on. “The total sum of whether I was taken seriously seemed to come down to a jacket—not the work I was doing, not how prepared I was,” she reflected.

Tamron said it then took her years to wonder, “Is this feedback actually making me better at work, or is it pulling away attention from my work?” She ended the video by saying: “I learned that if you’re not careful, other people’s judgments can start to wear you down.”

Comments agreeing with Tamron’s advice flooded the post. Another news personality, Kayla Thomspon, wrote, “I feel this deeply. News taught me to evaluate the critic because more likely than not…they just want to dim your light if you’re shining on levels they don’t like.”

The smocked floral dress Tamron wore while telling her story was colorful, polished, and full of personality—proof that dressing professionally doesn’t have to mean sacrificing personal style. Dainty florals, bow-tied spaghetti straps, and a smocked bodice gave it a romantic feel, and I immediately started searching for something similar.
