The Sons of Anarchygang is back together!
More than a decade after the hit drama series ended, the castwill reunite in the upcoming FX meta-thriller Legends, which was developed and executive produced by Charlie Hunnam — who played Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy.
The forthcoming series will follow the cast of the biker drama as they reunite at a fan convention. There, “the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show,” according to an official logline.

Legends will star Hunnam, 46, alongside Ron Perlman (Clay Morrow), Katey Sagal (Gemma Taylor Morrow), Maggie Siff (Tara Knowles), Mark Boone Junior (Bobby Munson), Tommy Flanagan (Chibs), Kim Coates (Tig), and Theo Rossi (Juice) as themselves. Additional cast members will be announced at a later date.

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is not involved in the new project. Instead, Jonathan Groff will serve as Legends’ showrunner. Groff recently joined the project, which has been in development with Hunnam for at least three years.
“When Charlie brought us this inspired idea, we instantly sparked to his bold and entertaining vision,” FX Entertainment President Nick Grad said. “Charlie’s talents are on full display as a writer, performer and executive producer, leading the real-life brotherhood on an adventure that is both a love letter to the series and a fun meta twist on what fans think they know.”

In 2020, Hunnam opened up to PEOPLE about the legacy of the Sons of Anarchy and credited it for launching his career.
“Well, frankly, it gave me a career,” Hunnam said. “And it gave me the ability to have confidence that I was going to be able to make [acting] work as a lifelong career.”
“I think I went into Sons of Anarchy being a pretty unaccomplished actor in terms of my skill set,” he explained at the time. “I wasn’t one of these people that were born enormously and innately talented. I had to really cultivate a skill set.”
The Monster: The Ed Gein Story actor said that being Jax Teller was a “very deep experience,” so much so that he would never reprise his most famous role. “I lived with that character inside me for years, like, in a very real way. In a way that manifested in ways that I could never even [have] imagined,” he explained.
“He’s dead now,” Hunnam added. “So there would be no ever bringing him back ... When he died, he died.”
Sons of Anarchy is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu. Hunnam will next be seen as Lizzie Borden’s father in Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, which Netflix will release on Sept. 17.
