Two days later, Biles replied, "Ugh these comments make me sad. a little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here."
"I hope you understand that life changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you're able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward 😘 have a nice day!" she ended her reply.
The exchange happened in the comment section of Biles' Instagram carousel that included several bikini-clad pictures from her Belize trip with husband Jonathan Owens. "relaxing in paradise 🖤🐚👙," she captioned the post.
Biles left for vacation about eight days after she shared a photo of her arm covered in patient wristbands from the hospital while explaining that she has been "in bed resting this week" after experiencing one of the worst health scares of her life.

"I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age," Biles wrote on her Instagram Stories. "But almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week."
"This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan [Owens] was in Indy for practices," she continued.
"I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers," Biles continued on her Instagram Stories. "Loooovveeee y'all."

While the decorated Olympian has yet to share what happened, she's made mention of the incident in the comment section of her Instagram posts since. On Sunday, June 14, she replied to a different fan who called her out for not sharing more about her near-death medical experience.
The comment came on a day-in-the-life video Biles uploaded to Instagram of her trip to Belize, where she included everything from her morning routine, to her travels through the airport with her husband to her arrival on the island.
"Never got the update on near death experience 😕," the fan wrote in the comment section of the Belize post.
Biles replied, "not ready to talk about it just yet ❤️🩹."
