Struthers discussed her decision to stay single in the aftermath of her marriage in a recent interview

Sally Struthers is living life her way.

In a recent conversation with Woman's World, the actress opened up about her decision to stay since after her 1983 divorce from ex William C. Rader.

"I constantly put my blinders on and got into horrible relationships,ā€ she shared of her dating history

Part of her decision to stop that pattern was wanting the best for her daughter, Samantha. When the little girl turned a year old, Struthers made a decision.

ā€œI’m going to focus on my family, my friends, my career—and I’ve never, ever missed having a love life.ā€

Over four decades later, Struthers is pleased with her decision. She has a full house thanks to nephew Matt, who lives with Struthers along with his wife and his son, Kai.

"We have become such a tight unit of family," she told the outlet. "We respect and love one another, laugh and cry together—and it’s better than being married."

Earlier this year, the A Man on the Inside actress was on an episode of the Let’s Talk About That! With Larry Saperstein and Jacob Bellotti podcast, where she admitted to having dated Elvis Presley.

ā€œThat was fun,ā€ she shared in the interview.

ā€œHe was probably the nicest man I ever met. He was so polite and so kind and soft-hearted that you just couldn’t believe anybody that was that beautiful had never caught on that they were beautiful and gotten obsessed with themselves.ā€

She continued, ā€œHe was just all about kindness to everyone, which is pretty great.ā€
