Would Rosie O'Donnell ever return to *The View*?
The comedian and former talk show host addressed the possibility during an audience Q&A on *Watch What Happens Live* Thursday. O'Donnell also addressed a past feud with former cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who returned to *The View *in March as a guest host.
"While you're in New York, would you be interested in guest hosting on *The View* like Elizabeth Hasselbeck did? And did you get a chance to catch her on it?" one audience member asked O'Donnell.
"I would be up to guest host, but they haven't asked me," she replied. "So we'll see what happens."

As for catching Hasselbeck? "But you know, listen, it's interesting. In the time of [Donald] Trump, I think she's the perfect person they want on TV spouting their rhetoric," the comedian said.

O'Donnell was on *The View *from 2006 to 2007, and returned briefly from 2014 until early 2015, stepping back a second time due to health issues.
*WWHL* host Andy Cohen had his own follow-up question, asking O'Donnell, "are you still annoyed that the director went to the split screen?"
"Yeah, I'm still annoyed. Believe me. A mommy knows how to hold a grudge," O'Donnell quipped.

In 2007, Hasselbeck and O'Donnell argued over America's military presence in the Middle East. The producers employed a split-screen to capture their emotions at the same time. Not long after the incident, O'Donnell left *The View *for the first time.
"I cannot believe that this woman, after all I did for her — because when I took that job, I made one commitment to myself, that I was not going to be her enemy, that I was going to meet her as a person," O'Donnell said in 2025 on the Australia-base *Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel* podcast.
She also alleged that the show's producer had anticipated emotions flying high during that particular conversation topic. "That was prepared," O'Donnell claimed. "So, the whole thing, I think, was a setup."
Hasselbeck responded on Instagram, saying that "time and time again” O'Donnell “wants to spread lies and hate."
"I love my friends who disagree with me. I tried to call you many times and reach out to you after that, Rosie, and you don’t want repair. I have to go here because you won’t respond... I still forgive you and it can just be so much more free, Rosie, if you can just stop. Stop the madness, stop the lying, and just be free. I just pray God’s fire and glory around you so you can be protected from whatever is holding you back.”

A few days after Hasselbeck's emotional plea, the *Tarzan** *actress responded on Tiktok. "Trust me, I'm full of freedom and joy," she began.
"Honey, this wasn't about you or your character. It was about the truth of what happened, from my perspective. That's it. Hate to tell you, I don't really think about you that much until an interviewer asks me. It's not like I'm walking around going, 'God, do you think Elisabeth will ever forgive me?' I'm not."

Hasselbeck, who was on *The View *from 2003 to 2013, again addressed the "wild" split-screen moment in March, while on *The View*'s companion podcast, *Behind the Table*.
"It's wild, that split-screen moment. It determined something. It determined who was coming back," she reflected. "It was a stressful day. It's not a day that I love. It's a significant day because I can look back at it now with maturity and think my position would be the same."
