In a new interview, royal author Omid Scobie weighed in on where things stand between Prince William and Prince Harry in their feud now. Moreover, Scobie explains why he believes that the next move has to come from William’s end. The author has written about the royals for years and now has a new novel out, and he claimed that the dynamic between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales has not changed since the early days of their fallout.

Royal author describes Prince William and Prince Harry’s dynamic amid feud

PEOPLE exclusively reported that Omid Scobie explained the feud between Prince William and Prince Harry, looking back to 2023. He said, “Harry was still waiting for that moment of accountability from his brother — an opportunity to talk about many of the grievances that have built up to this point and be able to move on from that.”

Moreover, Scobie added that, in 2026, “Nothing has changed,” claiming that Harry’s “expectations and wants and wishes” remain the same. And still, William has reportedly fulfilled “none of them.”

The brothers’ strained relationship reportedly dates back to 2020, when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from their roles as senior working royals. Since then, tension has only grown as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke about their experiences in interviews, a Netflix series, and Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

Additionally, Scobie claimed that Harry made “repeated attempts” to reach William, and although he claimed he observed “some moments of warmth” between Harry and King Charles, he stressed that “that hasn’t happened with William.”

Hence, per Scobie, “The ball has been in William’s court for some time now.” He added, “And he’s chosen not just to knock it back, but to kick it in the other direction.”

However, a source close to Prince William told PEOPLE, “At first, he was incredibly angry,” adding that the feud with Prince Harry left him “incredibly let down and immensely sad.” Eventually, William reportedly shifted his priority to his own family and his father.
