- The "Shake It Off" singer told a reporter that she doesn't care.

- Instead, Carey mentioned, she is busy preparing for her signature season.

Mariah Carey doesn't seem fazed at all after being overlooked by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The five-time Grammy winner was quick to, um, "Shake It Off" — Mariah's song, not Taylor's — that she hadn't been invited to join. Carey flatly told TMZ cameras that, "no," it hadn't bothered her.

Asked if she had a message for fans who have been defending her online, the music superstar offered her "Lambs" a virtual hug.

"I love my fans. Always!" Carey said, before she was asked about the Hall of Fame's announcement again. "Who cares? Like give it to somebody else. Fantastic."

The singer also confirmed that she will begin preparing for Christmas, which has become her signature holiday, "soon."

Yes, it's April. But Carey has, after all, made an empire off the December festivities, thanks to her ubiquitous hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which has spawned more festive music, a tour, a family movie, and other holiday-themed delights.

Carey had been expected by many of her fans to have had the honor bestowed upon her by now. She's sold more than 200 million albums and 19 of her singles have reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 — a record for the chart.

She became eligible for the honor in 2016 and was first nominated in 2024. She's now been shut out of three classes in a row.

Acts must be nominated by a committee that includes music industry insiders, such as artists and journalists. Nominated acts must have "demonstrated musical excellence, impact, and influence," as well as have released their first music at least 25 years ago.

The "Fantasy" singer told the *Los Angeles Times* in 2024 that she had been disappointed when she didn't make the cut then.

"Everybody was calling me going, 'I think you're getting in!' and so I was excited about it," Carey said. "But then it didn't happen."

This year, the Hall instead chose Genesis vocalist and drummer–turned–solo star Phil Collins, punk rocker Billy Idol, heavy metal icons Iron Maiden, post-punk's Joy Division/New Order, the British rock brothers of Oasis, smooth jazz and pop singer Sade, R&B and soul crooner Luther Vandross, and pioneering hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan.

Carey was in good company. Nominees the Black Crowes, Melissa Etheridge, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, INXS, Lauryn Hill, and Jeff Buckley were also left out.

Besides, this year's induction ceremony has been set for Nov. 14, when Carey will surely be busy.
