Lisa Rinna detailed one cosmetic procedure she regretted in her new memoir, You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It
She explained her regrets over getting SKINVIVE injections in April 2024, after they caused unexpected swelling in her cheeks
The actress said she faced public criticism of her appearance, which she recalled as "traumatizing"
Lisa Rinna reveals that she regrets one “traumatizing” cosmetic treatment.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 62, detailed her experience with SKINVIVE. The cosmetic procedure is “a gel implant or dermal filler that is injected in specific areas of facial tissue to add definition or reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles,” the FDA describes.
In Rinna’s new memoir, You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It, she explained how she regretted getting the skin injectable before attending the 2024 Fashion Trust Awards in Beverly Hills, per The Daily Mail.
“I went to somebody to get some Botox and the esthetician said to me, ‘I have this SKINVIVE, it's brand new – you're gonna love it! You put it on your face and it will act like it doesn't add any volume, it just gives you a glow,’ ” Rinna wrote, according to the outlet.
Rinna said she agreed to the procedure, which was administered around only her cheeks. “All of a sudden, my cheeks were like a squirrel gathering nuts,” Rinna recalled, noting that she may have been allergic.
She explained that the disappointing results were exacerbated because she had also recently received Botox in her jaw to remedy her TMJ. “Well, the combination of the Botox making my jawline atrophy, and SKINVIVE giving me volume, made me look freakish,” she wrote.

The Traitors star noted that the public severely criticized her appearance after she attended and was photographed at the Fashion Trust Awards in April 2024.
“Everybody put my picture up because my face did look different,” she wrote, adding that influencers were making videos comparing her before and after the procedure. “Everyone was so mean about it. I was all over TikTok and all over every f---ing doctor's site.”

The Days of Our Lives actress decided she needed to “immediately” have the SKINVIVE reversed, which ultimately allowed her face to return to its previous state within days.
“Oh my God. It was really humiliating because I knew that it looked terrible,” she continued. “Fortunately, I'm an old battle axe at this point and I can take it.”

One month after the initial incident, she spoke to PEOPLE about the experience, saying, “Some things work out, and some things don't.”
“There's so much available to us now, which is so great, such great lasers and whatnot, and I think it's wonderful to see what works for you," she said. "And if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work for you.”
“Once you get older and there's anti-aging things out there, great. Hallelujah! But it's happening at such a young age now, the pressure to somehow be perfect,” added Rinna at the time. “I guess what I have to say is there is no such thing as perfection. There just isn't. And so if you're chasing that, you'll always be unhappy.”
