Lionel Richie has canceled two shows after cutting the first night of his tour short.
On Thursday, June 25, Live Nation Chicago confirmed in an Instagram post that Richie, 77, would be postponing his next two Sing A Song All Night Long Tour gigs in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, which had been set to take place on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, respectively.
The post stated that the musician had been advised by doctors “to rest and return to full health” before taking to the stage again with Earth, Wind & Fire.
Live Nation confirmed, “He and Earth, Wind & Fire will return to the stage on Tuesday, June 30 in Pittsburgh, PA.”
“Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes fans who have tickets for these two shows. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon,” the post concluded.

The message came after the singer fell ill while he was performing "Dancing on the Ceiling" at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday, June 24.
After taking a seat on a platform, the four-time Grammy Award winner told the crowd that he was feeling dizzy and that he'd never previously performed the song sitting, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
"When you're feeling dizzy, sit your ass down," he joked, before sitting down at a piano to perform "Three Times a Lady.”
He then took an impromptu intermission, the Star Tribune stated.

Richie's five band members stayed onstage for about 15 minutes before leaving as recorded music played. His saxophonist, Dino Soldo, eventually explained to fans that the hitmaker was unwell and wouldn't be able to continue the concert around 40 minutes into the intermission.
Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris later told the Star Tribune that Richie showed no signs of ill health beforehand, insisting that he was "a little dehydrated."

After the incident, the “Hello” singer was met backstage by paramedics and transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, TMZ reported.
Shortly before the show, Richie had posted a handful of photos on Instagram, alongside the caption, "Opening night. 🚀 Rehearsals. Sound check. Showtime tonight.📍Saint Paul, you're up!!!"
The concert was the first of a 26-date run of shows on Richie's latest tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

The dates come after the singer and band previously brought Sing A Song All Night Long to the U.S. and Canada in 2023 and 2024. On the initial run, they had to postpone a show at New York City's Madison Square Garden after weather conditions meant Richie couldn't make it to the venue in time.
After Richie's next two gigs in Chicago and Columbus, he's scheduled to play cities including Toronto, Boston, N.Y.C., Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles, finishing the tour in Austin on Aug. 14.
He then has more August shows in Malta and the U.K. lined up before a date in St. Louis, before rounding off the year with a December show in São Paulo, Brazil.
