Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her decision to end her Daytime Emmy-winning talk show later this year.

The “Stronger” singer, 43, explained on Friday’s episode of *Today* that it ultimately came down to wanting to spend more time with her children, River Rose and Remy. **

“Well, I think everybody probably gets the timing, but… yeah, our family life, the dynamic changed a bit and it has changed for a minute now,” Clarkson said. “I think it’s just — you’ve got kids, we’ve all got kids, right? — it’s one of those things when you kinda start seeing life as how precious it is, too.”

Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock — with whom she shares Remy and River Rose — died following a battle with skin cancer last August. His death led Clarkson to postpone several of her Las Vegas residency dates at the time in order to “be fully present” for their children. **

While Clarkson may be ending her talk show, she made it clear on *Today* that she isn’t stepping away from the spotlight anytime soon. **

“I’m really busy. We were talking at dinner last night. I was like, ‘I know everybody thinks oh, she’s quit.’ I still have other jobs!” she remarked. “So I’m still doing stuff. There’s just too much on the plate, so I was like, ‘You know what, it’s time to kind of pull back.’”

Her jam-packed schedule includes serving as a judge on season 29 of *The Voice*, which begins airing on NBC beginning on Feb. 23. She is also set to hold another series of performances as part of her *Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions - The Las Vegas Residency* in July and August. **

Still, she explained that it was “really hard” to say goodbye to *The Kelly Clarkson Show* because it’d had been such a good run. **

“And, honestly, you know — I work with a lot of people here, too — the crew’s been incredible," Clarkson added. "It wasn’t the show wasn’t doing [well], that’s what kind of sucked. It was like, everything was going well, that’s what was really hard."

She added, "And it’s like people’s jobs. We are a family there as well, so that was a really hard thing for me, but an easy decision as a momma. But it’s a big deal for our team."

In an Instagram statement published earlier this month, Clarkson wrote that she would be ending her talk show in order to “prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."**

She also maintained that “this isn’t goodbye,” either. **

“I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on* The Voice *from time to time … you never know where I might show up next,” Clarkson wrote. “But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”
