Kandi Burruss is speaking out about what led to her divorce from Todd Tucker.
During an appearance on the Sunday, Feb. 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 49, about her decision to split from Tucker, 52, in November after 11 years of marriage.
“It happened in July,” Burruss revealed. “In July was when I was like, ‘Oh, yeah. No, I can't do this no more.’ ”
“Was there a specific moment or thing that happened?” Cohen, 57, pressed.
“Yeah, it was a specific situation that happened,” the songwriter shared as she quipped: “I'm not talking about it on Watch What Happens.”

She went on to open up about the current status of her relationship with Tucker, with whom she shares son Ace, 9, and daughter, Blaze, 6. Noting that “sometimes our conversations can get a little intense” while discussing divorce matters, Burruss said that the two are generally amicable.
“For the most part, even if we argue, we still try to be nice to each other,” she explained. “We're co-parenting. Last night, we went to my son's basketball game. So, we were there sitting right next to each other. I'm sure people was like, ‘Uh…’ "
"But I feel like once we're done with this, I really feel that we will be able to be great co-parents," she continued, "because our ultimate goal is to make sure that all of our kids are happy and that they don't feel the brunt of our drama.”
Burruss further addressed speculation about Tucker’s recent court filing regarding their prenuptial agreement, which viewers saw them create and sign in the 2014 spinoff series Kandi’s Wedding. While there has been public speculation that Tucker was contesting the prenup, the reality star says that isn’t the case.
“He actually isn't contesting. They threatened to contest it,” she said. “They said that if we do not come to terms, that they feel that they have a way to contest it. So, I think that is the misunderstanding of the internet. We've never actually had conversations about it being anything other than that. You know what I'm saying? So, he's like, ‘Well, I don't want people to feel that I'm…’ I'm like, ‘Well, people feel that way because your lawyer put it in there.’ "
As for how her mother, known as Mama Joyce, is reacting to the situation, Burruss revealed that “she has actually been pretty calm" despite being vocal about disliking Tucker during their time on RHOA.

“She’s been trying to not say too much, not to get into it. Sometimes the internet, conversations with people, their opinions about our divorce, can get in her head, and she's like, ‘Well, they said that you need…’ ” Burruss laughed, explaining that she replies, “ ‘Ma, I don't care.’
"Because they don't really know what's happening between he and I," she added. "We're doing our best to get along and get through this moment, because we honestly don't have a lot that we're disagreeing about.”

On Nov. 21, 2025, Burruss officially filed for divorce from Tucker. She confirmed the news in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE at the time.
"After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” it read. “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
"I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth,” she concluded. “I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family."

In addition to the two kids they share, both also have children from previous relationships: Burruss' daughter Riley, 23, and Tucker's daughter Kaela, 29.
