This isn't *Jeopardy*'s first attempt at capturing the sports fan demographic. In 2014, the streaming service Crackle launched *Sports Jeopardy*, which ran exclusively online for three seasons, through 2016.
Like several other *Jeopardy *spinoffs, from the short-lived children's edition *Jep *to *Celebrity Jeopardy*, which still airs today, the *Sports Jeopardy *spinoff abided by slightly different rules than the flagship series.
Contestants played for points rather than dollar amounts, for starters, and what they were able to take home at the end of any given episode was much smaller than on the flagship series. There were fewer clues in each round as well, which placed a greater emphasis on interactions between the contestants and the host, sports broadcaster Dan Patrick.
Gameplay specifics have not yet been outlined for *ESPN Jeopardy*. Viewers can still catch episodes of the flagship series weeknights on ABC.
