The 38-year-old retired NFL star opened up about his biggest don’ts when it comes to romance. On Friday, Feb. 27, Jason and his younger brother, Travis Kelce, answered fan questions on the New Heights podcast hotline, including one caller who asked the brothers the best way to ask out a girl.
“Don’t try and make her like you because then she’s gonna hate you,” Jason, who married wife Kylie Kelce in 2018, advised. “This was my crucial flaw with talking to females. I was like, ‘Okay, how do I impress them? Or how I would think that I need to talk any differently?’ ”
Travis, who announced his engagement to Taylor Swift in August 2025, assured the caller, “Who you are is good enough, bud. No, you’re doing too much. That’s what Jason’s [saying]. Just be you, man, who you are is enough for the right person.”

Jason advised against trying to reach “unattainable” goals for yourself, jokingly adding, “Do you know how many times I was told ‘No?' It’s gonna be fine.”
And while Travis advised a conversation starter complete with a compliment, Jason kept it simple.
“Here's what you do, you ask her out,” Jason noted.

Travis agreed, adding, “Yeah, there's no other way around it other than you just gotta just gotta do it, man. You just gotta own it. You gotta have some cojones. What's the worst she's gonna say? No?”

But overall, Jason doesn’t advise listening to his advice when it comes to women.
“I still don't really know how to talk to women. I'm a f---ing Neanderthal,” the father of four quipped. “My wife, Kylie, reminds me every single day. But I think you just ask her out and then you go on a date and then you go from there. I wouldn't worry too much about it, bud.”
Travis appeared as a guest on Kylie’s Not Gonna Lie podcast earlier this month, where they discussed Jason’s lack of dating history prior to his romance with his future wife.

“I had never seen him, one, be so into someone, but also I had never seen someone kind of be able to control the bear,” Travis quipped of Kylie.
“Channel it,” Kylie corrected.
“Channel it’s a great way to put it,” Travis agreed. “And not have him immediately fight back about it. Obviously, he has his ways of just being Jason and doing things his way, but at the same time, you gave him a reason to team up. And he’s the best team player in the world.”
Jason and Kylie now share four daughters: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 11 months.
