After a well-received debut last year, award-winning comedian Conan O'Brien is back to host the Oscars once again.
Speaking to reporters at a pre-Oscars conference ahead of Sunday's ceremony, O'Brien said hosting the event has taken on a personal meaning for him. The role reminds him of childhood memories spent watching late-night TV with his late father, Dr. Thomas O'Brien, who "loved comedy."
"I very clearly remember Johnny Carson hosting the Oscars and watching my father watch Johnny, and watching my father laugh, and thinking, 'Wow, that's cool, that man is making my father laugh.' And so to think that maybe now I'm part of that equation somehow, and in a cosmic way [it] links me to my dad, is pretty amazing," he shared.
