Noah Schnapp had a say in scenes featured in the latest season of Stranger Things.

The actor, 21, shared at PaleyLive’s Stranger Things panel on Dec. 18 at the Paley Museum in New York City that he brought his "opinion" to the fifth and final season of the Netflix hit.

Speaking about the reveal of his character, Will Byers, being able to channel Vecna's powers at the end of the first installment of the current season, he said, "The powers were not something I ever experienced or had to work with before, and I was just really excited to play with it."

"It's just fun because there's no rules with that kind of stuff. It's just written in the script, there's no reference, there's no guidelines," Schnapp continued. "So it was fun to just create and play with that this season."

Schnapp also said he gained confidence in the freedom he was granted in portraying his character’s newfound abilities. "I'd say for the first time, this year, I really learned how to form my own opinion and perspective, and come to [creators Matt and Ross Duffer] and say, 'Well, I think actually this would work and this makes sense for Will,' " he shared.

The actor noted that it is important to learn "that your opinion is important and valuable."

"When I was younger on the show, I didn't think I had an important enough opinion to make a decision," he recalled, after having first appeared on the series in 2016.

The Duffer Brothers, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke and Jamie Campbell Bower also attended the panel, which was moderated by Perri Nemiroff.

Schnapp previously told Variety that he didn't actually learn about the major twist for his character until the rest of the cast did. "I remember the scripts being written the year prior, and Shawn Levy and some of the directors not telling me explicitly," he said.

The actor explained that he was "explicitly" kept in the dark "because they never trust me with any of the information.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Schnapp called his initial reaction to reading the last script "unbelievable."

"I remember I had people texting me before the scripts came out like, ‘Noah, watch out. You're going to like this season,' " he said. "And I was like, ‘Oh, whatever, whatever.’ And then we got to the day before the table read and I was reading it in the shower and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ Like, calling my mom, ‘Oh my God, you have to read it,’ and freaking out. I was skimming it as I was getting ready in the shower."

Vol. 1 of Stranger Things season 5 is now streaming on Netflix. Vol. 2 drops Dec. 25 with three episodes, and the finale drops Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
