Nancy Sinatra remembered former costar Elvis Presley almost 50 years after he died.

“Beneath the fame was a man who was deeply affected by the world around him and by the people he loved,” she wrote on social media.

The singers appeared in the 1968 musical comedy film Speedway, nine years before Presley died of a heart attack at 42 in August 1977.

Nancy Sinatra can’t believe it’s been almost 50 years since Elvis Presley died.

The daughter of Frank Sinatra posted on social media about the King’s death, 49 years after he died on Aug. 16, 1977 from a heart attack at age 42. Nancy and Presley starred in the 1968 musical comedy film Speedway.

“It’s hard to fathom that it has been almost half a century since we lost Elvis Presley. Another year, another sad anniversary,” the singer began, sharing a picture of her and Presley holding each other while laughing.

“Elvis was both the funniest person and the most serious person I ever knew. One minute, he could have me laughing with some silly joke, and the next, he would be on the phone late at night, talking about a terrible story he had seen on the news,” she wrote.

Nancy also recalled the “Hound Dog” singer being “extremely sensitive” and having “the biggest heart.”

“He felt everything. Beneath the fame was a man who was deeply affected by the world around him and by the people he loved. That tender, caring side of him is something I will never forget,” she said.

“This is my favorite photo of us because it captures the joy and affection we shared. We had so much fun making Speedway! Elvis had a tandem bike made, and we would ride it around the studio lot, much to the chagrin of the studio heads, occasionally even popping up on a studio tour,” she continued. “We were like The Katzenjammer Kids!”

Nancy concluded, “I love and miss you, EP. You are always on my mind and forever in my heart.”

Frank, who died in 1998 at 82, hosted a “Welcome Home Elvis”television special on The Frank Sinatra Timex Show in celebration of Presley’s return home from serving in the Army in March 1960. The special was filmed less than three weeks after Presley came back at the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami and aired that May.

Presley performed his first post-Army single, which featured “Stuck on You” and “Fame and Fortune.” The King and the Chairman of the Board also performed a mash-up of Sinatra’s “Witchcraft” and Presley’s “Love Me Tender.”

Presley pocketed an unheard of $125,000 for his appearance on the show, which marked the only time he and Frank worked together. Eight years later, he would star in Speedway with Nancy.

Per Express, Nancy said that she and Presley never dated, however, “There was flirting, but just friendly flirting.”

She added, “Elvis was lovely. What a great guy. What a sweet, polite, wonderful man.”

Presley was married to Priscilla Presley from 1967 to 1973. They share one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

Nancy was married twice: to singer and actor Tommy Sands from 1960 to 1965, and choreographer Hugh Lambert from 1970 until his death in 1985. They share daughters Angela “AJ” and Amanda.
