- Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, and D.B. Woodside are among the main cast members who've departed the series.

- Gabriel Basso and Fola Evans-Akingbola are the only OG stars still on the show.

Since its 2023 debut, Netflix's *The Night Agent* has kept audiences on the edge of their seats with nail-biting twists, mind-boggling conspiracies, and a cast of characters you can't fully trust. A big part of the thrill is never knowing who's on the level and who's got something up their sleeve.

As such, the ensemble gets shaken up with each new season. The only season 1 OGs to surface in season 3 are Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland and Fola Evans-Akingbola's Chelsea Arrington — and Evans-Akingbola sat out season 2 entirely. So, yeah, there's a lot of turnaround on *The Night Agent*. The story demands it.

Season 3 folds in tons of new characters, which should help compensate for the loss of Luciane Buchanan, who played the key character of Rose Larkin. She confirmed her exit back in September 2025.

Her departure, along with several others, leaves the door open for new agents, operatives, hitmen, and power brokers, but it's still interesting to look back. Read on for a look at every main cast member that's left *The Night Agent *thus far, as well as an update on what they've been up to since.

Hong Chau appears in *The Night Agent *season 1 as Diane Farr, the White House chief of staff and Peter's closest ally... well, supposedly.

While Diane is posited as one of the good guys, it's later revealed that she's tangled up in the conspiracy to assassinate foreign leader Omar Zadar. By the end, it seems like she'll face trial and go to prison for her role in the whole mess.

Creator Shawn Ryan previously spoke with TVLine about her departure, saying that "we told a pretty complete Diane Farr story in Season 1."

He also pointed out that Chau's schedule was getting busier, which was no joke. After earning an Oscar nomination for her performance in 2022's *The Whale*, she went on to work with high-profile filmmakers like Wes Anderson (*Asteroid City*), Yorgos Lanthimos (*Kinds of Kindness*), and Emerald Fennell (*Wuthering Heights*).

In *The Night Agent *season 1, Sarah Desjardins stars as Maddie Redfield, the Vice President's daughter who finds herself in serious danger. She gets kidnapped, but Chelsea manages to rescue her.

Speaking with TVLine, Ryan explained that the plan from the start was for *The Night Agent* to tell "different stories, oftentimes in different places, and that not a lot of characters will port over from one season to another." So, it sounds like Maddie's storyline just naturally came to an end.

Since then, Desjardins has appeared in films like *Float* (2023) and *Tron: Ares* (2025), and she currently stars as Callie Sadecki on *Yellowjackets *(2021–present).

Enrique Murciano as Ben Almora (season 1)

Former *Without a Trace* star Enrique Murciano played Ben Almora in the first season of *The Night Agent*. Ben, the head of the Secret Service, was killed off in the season 1 finale.

After his time on the show, Murciano appeared in the period drama *Miranda's Victim *(2023) and the Emmy-winning series *Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story* (2024).

Eve Harlow as Ellen (season 1)

Eve Harlow steps into the role of Ellen, a ruthless assassin. A major villain, she's killed off at the end of the season.

Harlow had a blast with Ellen's exit, telling TVLine that the character just had to "die in an epic way." She added that "there are so many elements, and so many people involved to make it all come together, and then it ends up looking f--king rad."

After subsequent turns on *Star Trek: Discovery *and *The Edge of Sleep*, she landed a leading role on the CBS medical drama *Watson *(2025–present).

Phoenix Raei as Dale (season 1)

Phoenix Raei joined *The Night Agent* as Dale, an assassin who is Ellen's lover and partner in crime. Dale also doesn't survive the season, meeting his demise at the hands of Peter.

Afterward, Raei starred in the dramedy *The Rooster *(2023) and appeared in TV shows like *Apple Cider Vinegar* and *The Twelve*, both released in 2025.

D. B. Woodside as Erik Monks (season 1)

In the first season of *The Night Agent*, *Lucifer* and *Buffy* alum D.B. Woodside portrays Erik Monks, a Secret Service agent trying to get back in the game after a hiatus. Tragically, he doesn't make it out of season 1 alive, as he's shot and killed by Ellen in episode 8.

Ryan admitted in a 2023 interview that killing Erik sparked some "mixed feelings," and that there were discussions around his fate.

Following the show, Woodside starred alongside Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers in *The Perfect Find *(2023), and also had a brief stint on *9-1-1: Lone Star *(2023–2024).

Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin (seasons 1–2)

Luciane Buchanan was a major player on *The Night Agent*, playing tech genius Rose Larkin in the first two seasons. After forging a complicated relationship with Peter, Rose departed for California at the end of season 2 in the hopes of "starting her life again."**

In a September 2025 interview with *Deadline*, Buchanan revealed she wouldn't be back for season 3 due to creative choices. "As much as that show has been so amazing, especially for my career … the writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of Season 2," she said. "And so, we don't get to see what happens to Rose, but I think it's a really exciting time for the show, and who knows, it's not a goodbye forever."

Basso echoed that possibility in a chat with *,* saying that he could absolutely see Rose returning in a future season. "The people in Peter's life are very important to him. And I think if there was a time where he had the possibility to like, value his personal life, I think … she'd be the first person he would reach out to.”**

After her season 2 exit, Buchanan starred opposite Jason Momoa on *Chief of War *(2025). She can next be seen in *Evil Dead Burn, *the latest entry in the* Evil Dead *franchise.

Arienne Mandi as Noor Taheri (season 2)

Arienne Mandi debuted in *The Night Agent *season 2 as Noor Taheri, an ambitious aide at the Iranian Mission trying to use her position to secure a better future for her family.

Noor didn't return for season 3, and Mandi hasn't commented on her departure. She has, however, kept busy with a regular role on *Chicago P.D. *(2025–present).

Berto Colon as Solomon Vega (season 2)

Berto Colon made his *The Night Agent *debut in season 2 as Solomon Vega, a sketchy ex-Marine working for intelligence broker Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum). Solomon meets a deadly end, so don't expect him to appear in future seasons.

The Puerto Rican actor and *Orange Is the New Black* alum recently appeared in the 2025 films *Switch and Bait* and *Undercard*.

Keon Alexander as Javad Rahmani (season 2)

Keon Alexander, an alum of shows like *Tyrant* and *The Expanse*, was another new face in *The Night Agent *season 2, playing Javad Rahmani, the head of Security for the Iranian mission to the UN. He ends up being one of the main villains, and meets his end in the season 2 finale.

After the show, Alexander headlined the Roku holiday movie *Merry Little Mystery *(2025).

Michael Malarkey as Markus Dargan (season 2)

In *The Night Agent *season 2, *The Vampire Diaries* veteran Michael Malarkey portrays Markus Dargan, a skilled military leader and nephew of a recently convicted dictator (played by Dikran Tulaine). By the finale, Markus meets his end at the hands of Peter and Rose.

Since leaving the show, Malarkey has focused on music, saying in an October 2025 Instagram post that he hopes to release new music under his own name and with his band, Shadyside, in 2026.
