The Boroughs star Denis O'Hare proposed an idea to "stick it to Netflix and let them know that they made a mistake" after the cancellation of the Duffer Brothers' latest series.
Days after news broke on Wednesday, June 17 that The Boroughs had been canceled by Netflix after one season, O'Hare — who plays Dr. Wally Baker in the show — jokingly floated a plan for "sweet revenge" via Instagram.
"So, it's Saturday and I'm just thinking about the fact that Netflix canceled The Boroughs and how really bummed I am because it was such a great show," O'Hare said in a clip on Saturday, June 20.
He added, "It was such a great show and people really seem to love it. I've been astounded how many people have come up to me and talked about how much they like the show and not just like, you know, old people but I'm talking about anybody, people who are in their 30s or 40s with kids. Everyone seemed to find something to relate to."

O'Hare then recommended Emmy voters step up to show support for the show.
"I think, we still have a couple of days before the end of Emmy voting, that everyone should just vote for The Boroughs," he said. "You can vote for me if you'd like. But also like Bill Pullman and Alfre Woodard and [Alfred] Molina and Geena Davis and Clarke Peters, Seth Numrich, Alice Kremelberg and vote for The Boroughs for Best Series and stick it to Netflix and let them know that they made a mistake, because I think that would be sweet revenge. Anyway, I love the show, I miss it."

Deadlinewas first to report on the show's cancellation last week. PEOPLE reached out to Netflix for comment at the time. The eight-episode series, which debuted on May 21 and followed a retirement community experiencing mysterious activity, was created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. Ross and Matt Duffer served as executive producers.

Following the news, Davis, 70, told The Hollywood Reporterthat the show's cancellation was unexpected. Davis stars as Renee Joyce in the sci-fi series. "Honestly, I don't know what happened," she said. "I think it's probably rare for a show to not get picked up and to have it announced that it's not being picked up while it's still in the top 10."
"Fortunately, the creators, who became our dear, dear friends, were able to tell us before the news came out, and we're all terribly disappointed," she added. "We didn't expect that."

Davis also shared that the cast "so fell in love with each other that we just wanted to keep working together."
"I suggested that the creators write another series, a completely different story with the exact same actors and writers and crew, and we just do it again like an anthology series, right?"
The Boroughs is streaming now on Netflix.
