Danielle Fishel recreates prom picture with ex Lance Bass: See the photo

Danielle Fishel and Lance Bass want to party like it's 1999.

The "Boy Meets World" actress and NSYNC alum, who dated in the late '90s, recreated their prom photo on social media Monday, April 20. Fishel and Bass, who later came out as gay, dated for one year during Fishel's senior year of high school.

In the video, Fishel, donning a sleek white gown, strutted across the set of what appeared to be her "American Idol" podcast to meet Bass, who was waiting for her with a corsage in hand.

"We recreated our 1999 prom pic, hoverhand and all," wrote Fishel, jokingly referring to Bass' partial physical contact in the original photo.

"And yes, that's the ACTUAL dress!" Fishel added. "I still don't know why we didn't work out!!"

Fishel previously reflected on the pair's short-lived romantic relationship during an April 2023 episode of the "Pod Meets World" podcast.

"I thought I was going to marry Lance. I had envisioned our future," said Fishel, who shared that Bass broke up with her a few weeks after her prom. "I held onto for hope for way too long that Lance and I were going to get back together and get married and have a family."

Bass, who rose to musical fame as one-fifth of the heartthrob pop group NSYNC, came out as gay in a July 2006 interview with People magazine. He is married to Michael Turchin, with whom he shares two children.

"Lance and I had a very wonderful, very warm, loving relationship but it was completely lacking of intimacy – intimacy in the romantic sense," Fishel said on "Pod Meets World." "We shared all of our feelings, and we shared family stuff and we were very intimate emotionally, but we were not physically intimate."

Despite their failed romance, there's no bad blood for Fishel. When her "Pod Meets World" cohost Will Friedle teasingly asked why their relationship didn't work out, Fishel replied, "It turns out, I'm not Lance's type."
