Blake Shelton is trading tabloid rumors for tomato plants this year.
The singer shared a video from his Oklahoma property on Wednesday, March 4, revealing how he and wife Gwen Stefani are planning to “step it up” this year, just months after speculation about their marriage circulated online. Shelton, 49, posted the clip to Instagram with the caption: “We're doing it.. we're really doing it this year... @gwenstefani and I are stepping it up!!!!”
In the video, the country star gave fans a casual update from his land as spring approaches. “OK guys, it's Blake Shelton, coming at you from Oklahoma, getting close to springtime,” he said while showing off his tractor and garden setup.
Shelton explained that he and Stefani, 56, had already started putting in serious work preparing their vegetable beds. “So this year we decided we're gonna do some actual real professional gardening, farming type stuff out here, me and my wife,” he said. “Anyway, me and my wife, her name is Gwen, we were out here putting this plastic out yesterday just she and I, nobody else.”
While the project hasn’t exactly been easy, Shelton joked that the effort will pay off once planting season gets underway. “It sucked, it's hard work, but we're going to plant vegetables in here to keep the weeds out,” he said. “I guess we're gonna poke holes in that and put, you know, tomatoes and peppers and squash and cucumbers.”

Shelton admitted he isn’t exactly known for loving vegetables, adding with a laugh, “I don't eat any, any vegetables in the first place, but it's fun.” What he’s especially excited about, however, is expanding one particular crop this year. “But here's what I'm really excited about,” he said. “It's gonna be my sweet corn patch this year.”
The lighthearted update comes after Shelton addressed online speculation earlier this year about his marriage to Stefani. In a January interview with Country Countdown USA, the singer said he began seeing headlines claiming the two had split.
“Starting in October, I think, or maybe November, I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up, they’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce,’” he said, laughing at how quickly the story would switch whenever the couple was spotted together again.
For now, Shelton seems more focused on spring planting than internet rumors—and if his plan works out, the couple’s Oklahoma garden could be their biggest harvest yet.
