Joanna Cassidy is opening up — albeit reluctantly — about dating the widower of her former costar Suzanne Somers.

During a recent appearance on the *Still Here Podcast With Steve Kmetko*, the host asked the *Blade Runner* star if he could ask about her dating life, and she hesitantly replied, "You can."

After a little prodding, the 80-year-old actress admitted, "Well, I am dating someone. Actually, he's a widow, and it's really interesting because I didn't date for a long time. I just, honestly, I don't know, it just didn't enter my life and Lord knows I'm out there."

Kmetko then cut in to ask, "Oh really? You're open?"

"Sure, I'm always looking," she said, adding, "but this man I ran into a year ago and it's going well."

When it seemed like that was all she has to say on the matter, Kmetko further prodded her for a name and asked if she was willing to share it.

"Oh gosh, where is this going to air?" she laughed. "I'm sorry, I'm so private."

Suddenly, she had a change of heart and said, "Well, his name is Alan Hamel, who was married to Suzanne Somers for many years."

Kmetko then asked if the *Six Feet Under *star knew Somers, and if that makes it awkward at all when it comes to her relationship with Hamel.

"Not at all, not for me," she said.

Hamel, a producer, was married to the *Three's Company* actress from 1977 until she died in 2023. Somers and Cassidy costarred on the 1985 miniseries *Hollywood Wives*, which was based on a Jackie Collins novel, alongside Candice Bergen, Stefanie Powers, and Angie Dickinson.

While Cassidy may be a little hesitant to share details on her private life, Hamel, 89, previously opened up about their budding romance last year, including how he's known Cassidy for decades.

"I have known Joanna Cassidy for over 45 years," he explained to Page Six. "Joanna was a guest star on [talk show] *The Alan Hamel Show* in Canada in the '70s. She was a great guest and it was a dynamic show, and we liked each other, not romantically, but mainly with respect. Both of us were married at the time."

He told the outlet things were "very cordial" between him and Cassidy again when she worked on *Hollywood Wives* with Somers, but the sparks really flew when they were reintroduced more recently when they were both single.

"My son [from a previous marriage] met Joanna at a screening and after a long conversation suggested to Joanna that she and me would get along and should meet," Hamel explained. "Stephen did not know we knew each other."

In a different interview with Page Six in 2024, Hamel shared his belief that Somers would have wanted him to find love again after her death.

"Since Suzanne was my only date for over 50 years, I'm a virgin dater," he told the outlet. "Suzanne told me when we knew the end was near not to 'mope around' and live my life."

Cassidy was previously married to Kennard Kobrin from 1964-1974.
