Ahead of The Princess Diaries 3, fans have received some disappointing news: Julie Andrews will not return to reprise her iconic role. Her co-star Anne Hathaway has now shared her reaction to Andrews’ absence from the highly anticipated sequel. Andrews recently confirmed that she will not appear in the third film.

Ahead of her Disney Legends induction at D23, Anne Hathaway spoke about Julie Andrews and revealed what she will miss about working with her.
Hathaway said, “She’s so warm and she’s so gracious and she’s so funny. She brings magic with her wherever she goes. She’s this amazing love conductor.”
“People feel so safe loving her, and she’s so beautiful at receiving love and giving it back to people. And who doesn’t want to be around people like that,” she added.

For context, The Princess Diaries franchise has released two movies so far, with a third installment currently in development. The first film hit theaters on Aug. 3, 2001. Anne Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who discovers that she is a princess, while Julie Andrews played her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement hit theaters on Aug. 11, 2004. The sequel followed Mia as she prepared to take the next step toward becoming queen. Julie Andrews also returned as Queen Clarisse.
The Princess Diaries 3 remains in development, although Disney has yet to announce an official release date. Anne Hathaway is confirmed to return as Mia Thermopolis, while Julie Andrews will sit out the third installment and will not reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
