3 Heartwarming Movies to Celebrate Father's Day with Your Dad

Father's Day isn't just about gifting your dad a card with a fart joke or giving him a new set of tools to work on the house. It should also be a time to celebrate the best of fatherhood.

The best dads are a shoulder to cry on and a guiding hand when there is nowhere else to turn. These movies will poignantly remind you of the best fatherly qualities and the relationships that come about from great male parenting.

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

Based on Harper Lee's legendary novel, To Kill A Mockingbird is the story of Atticus Finch, a lawyer who stands up to racism in 1960s Alabama by defending a Black man unfairly accused of sexual assault. Atticus serves as a true role model to his children, Scout and Jem, going against the darkness of bigotry during the time period, and he's become a symbol of how the best fathers provide a moral compass for their children that lasts a lifetime.

Life is Beautiful (1997)

Life is Beautiful won't be for everyone. Subtitles are one obstacle, as the movie is Italian. Taking an atrocious event in human history (the Holocaust) and turning it into comedy is another qualm for some viewers.

There's certainly no more touching film that demonstrates the love of a father than this one, though. A man and his son are taken to a concentration camp during World War II, and the father's decision to pretend the whole thing is just a game so that his son can maintain innocence is equally heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Father of the Bride (1991)

Starring Steve Martin as a dad who has to come to grips with his daughter becoming an adult and getting married, Father of the Bride is relatable for any dad who just wants his baby girl to stay that way forever. The movie is great for the whole family, and features other great actors like Diane Keaton and Martin Short.
